Music Knows No Borders

On the Move with Music

Some people have their roots deeply embedded in their homeland. Others are on the move – voluntarily or by force. Yet music knows neither borders nor national restrictions. It unites.

The newly formed ¡Eptá! Ensemble brings musicians from diverse cultural worlds onto a single stage: Roma, Sinti, Jenische, Jewish, Arab, and Indian musicians, alongside Flamenco and Rap, meet not side by side but together. From their stories, sounds, and traditions, something new emerges – a concert that brings people together.

Our concert tour through seven Swiss cities in autumn 2027 tells stories of anchors and departures, of homesickness and wanderlust, of farewell and arrival. It invites you to listen, to be moved, and to meet one another anew in Switzerland’s culturally diverse landscape.

Anchors & Being on the Move

Our guiding motif accompanies all concerts.

An anchor stands for home, memories, and that which gives us stability. Being on the move signifies change, openness, and the willingness to forge new paths. Almost everyone knows both experiences – whether through migration, travel, personal life journeys, or inner transformation.

¡Eptá! tells the story of this tension: of people who had to leave their home or have found a new one; of longing for the familiar and curiosity for the unknown; of farewells, encounters, and the courage to build bridges between cultures.

In doing so, we understand “being on the move” not merely as a geographical journey, but also as personal development. Every encounter changes us slightly – and every culture enriches our shared future.

Music as a Common Language

Music knows no borders. It requires no translation and reaches people directly.

In our concerts, traditional melodies, modern compositions, poetry, dance, and improvisation come together. Diverse musical traditions blend into a shared experience without losing their distinct identities. This core concept is built upon years of experience in intercultural music-making, as well as past projects in which members of the current ¡Eptá! ensemble have already convinced audiences in various configurations. In 2026, the association “Musik & Kulturen – vivre ensemble” was founded for ¡Eptá!. It serves as the bridge for this major project, maintaining contact with funding bodies from all over Switzerland.

Thus, concerts arise that do more than entertain – they enable encounters. They invite you to listen, to empathise, and to experience together. They show that diversity is not the opposite of community, but its very foundation.

For, in the end, what unites us is greater than what divides us.

Concerts

Each concert lasts around 90 minutes and weaves together music, poetry, and dance from seven cultural spheres into a single programme – without the individual traditions losing their distinctiveness.

The tour in autumn 2027 will take us through seven Swiss cities, from Schaffhausen to Bern. Ticket information and details for each venue will follow shortly; please check the calendar below for current dates.
